What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of holistic health that has been used for centuries to promote balance and well-being. With its emphasis on prevention, Ayurveda is a natural and effective way of staying healthy and taking charge of your own health. The benefits of using Ayurveda for holistic health include improved digestion, increased energy, better sleep, and a greater sense of overall well-being.
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda is a holistic approach to medicine that emphasizes the use of natural remedies and lifestyle practices to promote overall health and well-being.
The principles of Ayurveda are based on the concept of three doshas, or energies, that are present in the body: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each dosha is associated with specific physical and emotional characteristics, and imbalances in these doshas can lead to illness and disease.
Ayurveda also emphasizes the importance of a healthy digestive system, as it is believed that proper digestion is essential for maintaining good health. The use of herbs, spices, and other natural remedies is a key component of Ayurvedic medicine, as is the practice of yoga and meditation to promote mental and emotional balance.
What is cough?
It is the technically forceful expulsion of air from the lungs through the throat. The peculiar coughing sound is produced when air forcefully passes through the epiglottis which is a flap cover like organ on your windpipe. Sometimes it is often caused by irritation in the throat.

There are some diseases which cause acute and sub-acute cough like cold, flu, acute bronchitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, whooping cough, asthma, allergies etc.
In Ayurveda, Acharya Sushruta has described cough as Kasa, in which abnormal Prana Vaayu along with Udaan Vaayu gets expelled through the mouth making a peculiar sound like a broken bronze vessel. The Kasa is mainly caused by Vata and Kapha dosha.
In Ayurveda Kasa (cough) is described as a separate disease. There are different types of Kasa enlisted Like Vataja, Pittaja, Kaphaja, Kshataja and Kshayaja.
